There are considerable and far-reaching advantages associated with the use of cable trays instead of conduit. For one, cable trays are more flexible as a component of electrical infrastructure as trays can be removed and new trays added as needed. It is also easier, faster, and more cost-effective to lay cable in tray than it is to draw it through conduit, and on top of that there is a lower risk of breakage. Even once cable is installed, it is easier to access the cable for inspection, replacement or repair. Finally, cable tray allows for superior heat dissipation when compared to conduit, reducing the risk of fire from overheated cables.
